University of Utah students are designing a school in Haiti

COMMON|studio and University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning have taken the initiative to respond to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. COMMON|studio and University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning have partnered with Haitian Roots, a nonprofit organization which provides educational services to children of Haiti, to build a school in Croix des Bouquet, Haiti. The goal is to fulfill the needs of the future generation of Haitians by building and running a primary school for children during the day and a technical school for the youth at night. The design goal is to build safe, sustainable, highly innovative, and socially appropriate structure.
